YPO AUSTIN · AI WORKSHOP · PRE-SESSION SETUP · ABOUT 10 MINUTES

Get set up before you arrive

This should take about 10 minutes. Do this before the session so you can hit the ground running.

Three steps ~10 minutes Do it a day early
Step 01

Create your Claude account

Go to claude.ai and sign up with your email or Google account. You'll use this same account across desktop and mobile.

Subscription required You'll need a paid subscription. Claude Pro at $20/month is the minimum for the workshop. If your company already has a Team or Enterprise plan, that works too. You can upgrade to Pro from Settings → Billing after creating your free account.
How to sign up & subscribe
  1. Go to claude.ai
  2. Click Sign Up and create your account with email or Google
  3. Once logged in, click your name (bottom-left) → SettingsBilling
  4. Select Pro ($20/month) and enter your payment details
  5. You're set — you should now see "Pro" next to your name
Step 02

Install the apps

Install Claude on both your laptop and your phone. You'll primarily use the laptop during the workshop, but the phone app is useful for quick follow-ups.

Desktop

Mac or Windows

Downloads in under a minute.

Mobile

iPhone or Android

Same account, same conversations.

After installing
  1. Open the app and sign in with the same account you created above
  2. Make sure you can see "Pro" next to your name — this confirms your subscription is active
  3. Try sending a quick message to confirm everything works: type "Hello, what can you help me with?"
  4. Do this on both your laptop and phone before the workshop
Step 03

Prepare for your session

Steps 01 and 02 apply to both sessions. What to bring depends on which session you're attending — details below.

What to bring

Two sessions, two different kinds of preparation. Find yours.

Session 01 — Beginners

Come with a real problem

The most valuable part of this session is working on your actual business. Think about a manual process that frustrates you or your team — something that takes too long, is too repetitive, or feels like it should be easier.

Examples to get you thinking
  • A recurring report your team builds by hand every week or month
  • Documents that get reviewed and re-entered — invoices, contracts, applications, intake forms
  • Customer emails or inquiries that someone reads and routes manually
  • Data stuck in spreadsheets that gets copy-pasted between systems
  • Decisions that follow a pattern but still require a person every time
  • Content or communications written from scratch repeatedly — proposals, follow-ups, status updates
Bring a sample Bring a sample file if you can. A spreadsheet, a document, a form, a screenshot of the process — whatever represents the problem. Redact anything sensitive. Having something real to work with makes the session 10x more useful.
Session 02 — Advanced

Show & tell Optional

Want to show off what you've built, are creating, or have launched with AI? We'll have time at the end for show and tell — bring a tight 3-minute demo and show us what you got.

Demo tips
  1. Keep it to 3 minutes max — short and punchy wins
  2. Show the real thing — a live tool, a workflow, actual output, not slides about what you plan to build
  3. Start with the problem (10 seconds), then show the solution (the rest)
  4. Have it loaded and ready so you can jump straight in
No pressure The demo is totally optional. Even if you just want to watch and learn from what others have built, that's great too.

Your day-of checklist

Everyone · Both sessions

  • Laptop — fully charged
  • Claude desktop app — installed and logged in
  • Claude mobile app — installed and logged in
  • Pro subscription active ($20/mo minimum)

Session 01 · Beginners

  • One real business problem in mind
  • Sample file from that process, if possible

Session 02 · Advanced

  • 3-minute demo ready — optional but encouraged
Don't wait until the day of Set up Claude at least a day before the workshop. If you run into issues, you'll have time to troubleshoot. We want zero setup time during the session — we're going straight into it.

Stuck on any of this? Just ask.
